Who Are Refugees? Meet Germain.
Germain Dosseh began his life in Togo, in West Africa. After civil war erupted, his father was taken and Germain and his family fled to Ghana. There, they waited 14 years to be resettled, and ended up coming to the United States. Germain is now a proud resident of Phoenix, Arizona, where he is a police officer with the Phoenix Police Department. We shared Germain’s powerful story with USA for UNHCR audiences to help demonstrate the long journey refugees take, and what awaits them when they find new homes and communities.
We distributed Germain’s video on social media channels, where it was the highest performing post USA for UNHCR has ever posted. Due to powerful storytelling, the content was successful in engaging new non-typical USA for UNHCR audiences, including veterans, police officers and men.
Meet Germain
“I am an American and I love that. A refugee is a person that lost everything, has no hope. A refugee is a person who is looking for a second chance. For me, to be an American is a big deal… living here is a blessing.” – Germain Dosseh
