Investing In Impact For Refugees Help

Protecting Unaccompanied Children

Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) supports unaccompanied immigrant and refugee children who come to the U.S. to seek safety. Without parents or legal guardians to help them navigate a complex system, unaccompanied children are incredibly vulnerable. KIND steps in to ensure these children have legal representation and also works to advance laws, policies and practices that ensure children’s protection and right to due process.

USA for UNHCR recognized the need to support unaccompanied children. In 2018, we worked together with KIND to identify three key needs: critical services for children at the U.S.-Mexico border, testing technologies to connect pro-bono lawyers to clients in remote agricultural areas of California and core support KIND operations in Atlanta, Georgia and Newark, New Jersey.
